Police Story III colour regrade/correction
|
As far as I'm concerned, this one is ready. I might still get my hands on the mono from the laserdisc, and add it into a revision (or pass it on to those interested), but the general consensus is that the stereo is original.
Link is on Mega, video is an MKV. PM if interested. Should I make a thread in 'Released', or can/will this one be moved? Video - colour corrected with Resolve, encoded in x264 at the original bitrate of the Japanese blu-ray Audio - Cantonese sync sound stereo sourced from the HK Star (I think?) laserdisc, original English dub in 5.1 Subtitles - based on HKRs translation with improvements/alterations where necessary by me (ending song subtitled by The Film Whisperer) Appreciate all of the help and insight for this first project, I look forward to contributing more!

Viewed this last night with the original stereo track and loved it.
Ive not viewed the original 4k remaster but I'm aware of it's problems in which you have corrected. My only criticism would be the saturation. It really seemed to be quite muted at times. I had a bit of a tweek myself (and now after re-reading the thread) I see why you made your decision. When I boosted the saturation it looked really un-natural, sometimes in isolated areas of the frame! Id get a good skin tone for example, but a object in the background would be really hot! And the next shot Jackie would look like he had sun burnt cheeks ect. I doubt a shot by shot grade would even help! Thanks for your hard work on this Serums. A truly amazing first project! I look forward to what ever you are working on next bud.

@Serums: please start a new thread in the Released subforum; then, put a link to it in the first post, so everyone will be able to know it is not in progress anymore!

It must be a consequence of Ritrovata's restoration methods. My next project will be coming soon.
