Apologies if I came off too harsh bendermac but you had posted several of these threads today.

You got me excited with the thread heading!  I agree with PDB, but the truth is that the LD PCM would benefit me too.    A while back, I made myself a custom BD in which I synced the video stream from the HD DVD to the BD and muxed in the DTS-HD MA 5.1.  While the BD is sharper, the HD DVD is less cropped, which I find preferable given that both are cropped down from 1.66:1.  Don't get me wrong: there is no good transfer of this film, and the HD DVD has its share of problems – I simply prefer it to the BD.

I'd kinda like to see this as a project, Chew

So, the early mono release still needs to be tracked down then? I'm willing to do a capture as my old gas tube player excels at analog audio.

Well, I could maybe do it if no one else gets around to it. I only own the LD though. Wanted to get the HD DVD back when I heard it had better video than the BD, but then I heard it was prone to rot (plus there didn't seem to be a Japanese release), so I've been waiting for a remastered BD, but who knows if that will ever come...

I should check my copy for rot. Been over a year since I've watched it. The few bad HD DVD's I've had tend to break up and freeze around the layer change.

We used to have a thread about HD DVD's that should be preserved over at OT, (because there isn't a Blu Ray yet, or Universal crapped DNR all over a new master) but the subject might be more at home here.

That's all you'd need: I'd give you the track to which you could sync the PCM. But don't worry if you can't. I'm sure we'll get it done at some point.
