Well, I tested chapters with MKV, and it worked, so that's not a problem... if only there will be an "universal" format, read by software players, and hardware ones - from disc, USB, SD, HDD etc.
Possible, alternative "container" for our releases

I should clarify that chapters work just great in the mkv container but plex doesn't recognize them.

OK, thanks for the clarification!
Hi, I don't like menus or MKV, I like MP4 container with (titled) chapters and/or separate MP4 files.

I, on the other hand, really "hate" mp4 files. I always get problems with them.

In this day and age, if you're having problems with MP4s on your computer/devices, you're doing something wrong and the problem is with you (or possibly old, badly formatted/encoded files). I thought, the point/conclusion of this thread is MKV is nice for features, like menus, that MKV defined, which no players (or authoring tools) actually support and, I doubt never will, because, it's already been a while.. The way I see it is, I'm not aware of anything that supports MKVs and not MP4s, however not everything supports MKVs though (Apple iTunes). And I think, as time goes on, because MKV actually doesn't offer anything substantial over MP4, MP4 will win out (I think it already has), which is why I prefer MP4 containers.

I have decided to release my projects, from now on, on a simple BD-25 folder structure (to retain chapters) without menus, adding also a chapter txt file, to whom prefer an mkv or mp4, or other.

So they will play like a laserdisc? or VHS? or any "digital file?"
Just insert (applies to digital file too, if it's on a thumb-drive, LOL) and press PLAY... simple and works every time

Hope so!
I have also a new mint logo for it:
