Regraded Terminator 2 Judgement Day Director's Cut

Just an update to my answer before, the bitrate will actually be an average variable bitrate of 18mbs and maximum variable bitrate of 26mbs, the final file including DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 should be around 21gb. A more neutral 21gb release with unchanged fleshtones is currently in the middle of encoding, then i'll create a 21gb version of this release here, for those that like the colours of the Extreme DVD.

what will more neutral mean here? unchanged fleshtones = less orange, so less orange than the DVD looked, and more red again like the blu? what will then be the change compared to the blu, only the removal of the green tint?

Yes indeed pretty much as you said there, no change in fleshtones so they'll be reddish like on the blu-ray, no boost in saturation, just removing the subtle blanket green tint found on the Spanish blu-ray. It'll be the Director's Cut like this release.

After looking at numerous production photos of Terminator 2 i've come to the conclusion that fleshtones that I already have now with this regrade are close to correct and the reddish fleshtones from the blu-ray are not. With that in mind i've decided not to create a more neutral version of the blu-ray colours because i'm pretty certain that the reddish fleshtones on the blu-ray are not what the film looked like theatrically.

I've updated the details of this release and the screencap comparisons in the first post of this thread to reflect the new 22gb regraded release of Terminator 2: Director's Cut which i've just uploaded. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Smile

Just for clarification... Is this Director's Cut the version with the original ending?

By original ending you mean the one with John Connor as an adult? No, the Director's Cut ends with the shot going down the road and the voiceover of Sarah Connor, no adult John Connor in sight. I believe on the skynet edition you can type in a certain code and get the ending that you're talking about, though from what i've heard most people hate it. I've never seen it myself.

By original ending, I meant the ending as seen in the original theatrical release... The one with Sarah Connor's voiceover as the camera pans down the darkened highway.

The ending with Connor as an adult is an interesting bit, but definitely better off being relegated to the "deleted scenes" section of a disc, haha. Since you've never seen it, I 'm assuming that it's not the version you've worked on and shared with us. ;-)

Indeed the ending is exactly as you described, the camera panning down the highway with the voiceover then it goes to credits. That's the only ending i've ever seen. I didn't see T2 in the cinemas when it came out though so I didn't know whether the adult John Connor appeared theatrically at the end or not, very glad to hear that he didn't, i've always felt that T2 ends quite beautifully going down the road with that poignant Sarah Connor voiceover, wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for your effort!
Haven't seen this and judging from the screenshots can't see much of a difference too.
I mean I can see the difference but it isn't that much that it would make me furious over the original Bluray as in other releases! Big Grin
I wonder if I should get this or if I should still wait for a new restored official Bluray release..

Thanks titanic! Well, i've personally been of the belief that there is no time like the present. Nobody knows if a Terminator 2 new restored official Bluray release is going to be coming out anytime soon, nobody knows how long they've got on this Earth, so i'd personally go ahead and watch a film I want to watch rather than wait for an uncertain event in the future to occur.

I personally see a big difference in the fleshtones which are far too red and sunburnt in the blu-ray, this regraded release is a big improvement to my eyes, I think the 22gb release looks great. A fantastic film too I might add, James Cameron at his very best Smile
