I had no idea - thanks! Hoping for a extended version, but I'm not holding my breath TBH...

I'm up for helping with this. I didn't read every page of this thread but I could track down a LD release or two to help with PCM/AC3 audio. Just let me know!

Shout released the following specs last month:

NEW 4K Scan Of The Original Camera Negative
NEW Reflecting On Hell – An Interview With Director Paul W.S. Anderson
NEW Ghost Galleon – An Interview With Writer Philip Eisner
NEW Organized Chaos – An Interview With Actress Kathleen Quinlan
NEW Compassion In Space – An Interview With Actor Jack Noseworthy
NEW The Doomed Captain – An Interview With Actor Peter Marinker
NEW Space Cathedral – An Interview With Production Designer Joseph Bennett
NEW Something New – An Interview With Set Decorator Crispian Sallis
NEW Taking Care Of It – An Interview With Production Manager Dusty Symonds
NEW Reinforcements – An Interview With Second Unit Director Robin Vidgeon
NEW Almost Real – An Interview With Location Manager Derek Harrington
NEW Screams From The Cosmos – An Interview With Sound Designer Campbell Askew
Audio Commentary With Director Paul W.S. Anderson And Producer Jeremy Bolt
The Making Of Event Horizon – A 5-Part Documentary
The Point Of No Return – A 4-Part Look At The Filming Of Event Horizon With Narration By Paul W.S. Anderson
Secrets – Deleted And Extended Scenes With Director's Commentary
The Unseen Event Horizon – The Un-Filmed Rescue Scene And Conceptual Art With Director's Commentary
Theatrical Trailer
Video Trailer

The deleted scenes are supposedly in such bad shape that there is nothing that can be done with them (sourced from a VHS workprint of the dailies apparently, as the original deleted scene film elements have deteriorated). Looks to be a single disc release, with no attempt at a director's cut like with what happened with Exorcist III using a similar VHS cassette. Too bad an attempt wasn't made to even release a full scan of the VHS workprint, which would of been a nice addition to the disc. They have done so with Army of Darkness and the SciFi channel tv version of that, so no idea why they didn't bother here. More will be apparent on the 23rd of this month when it is released though and we can see what condition the deleted scenes really are in.

Wow!!! Stellar work as always @PDB. The increased resolution and the correct geometry of the Shout BD is great but prefer the older cooler color timing.

Thanks TAF!

I was surprised how warm the Shout is in general. Not saying its wrong but I do like the older, cooler color timing more. I'm playing around with it right now to see if there is a project there. Need to also track down the LD soundtracks...

@PDB I believe that the Cinema DTS was also available for awhile. Can forward that to you if you ever need, provided I can find the hard drive.

Sure I’ll definitely take the c-dts. That would be great and I appreciate it. Thought I had a copy myself but clearly misplaced it.

Also need the LD’s PCM 2.0 if anyone has a copy.

Otherwise I’m thinking:

1. C-DTS
2. LD PCM
3. First gen DVD’s 5.1
4. CE DVD’ 5.1s
5. And the Shout DTS MA or the Paramount True 5.1 or both

But that’s me thinking out loud since I’m still poking away at it as I spot check my DH2 project. I have roughly done the first 20 mins and like I said the first gen DVD/LD is much cooler with blue and greens

Here is one of the rare times the shout is bluer

One of the problems I’m having is the flashes wreck the color grading and I have to patch those manually. And there are a lot of them. Interesting enough, on the shout the flashes are “whitish” whereas on the dvd there are the expected blue.

Overall the Shout seems better than the paramount but I haven’t done a one on one comparison yet but the Shout also has a lot of crush and blow out the old dvd doesn’t have.

It’s the skin tones that are the oddest thing to me. The shout has very warm, orange and bright skin tones whereas the dvd is cooler with reddish skin. Not saying one is more right but I do like the old color timing better the more I go along.
