FYI the commentary on the BD is edited. The Laserdisc commentary is uncut. Some non-PC comments about Keith David were taken out

Good to know...
Do you have a time code that points to the differences? I think I have an older DVD...
"Never cut a deal with a dragon..."
- Old Shadowrun wisdom Just to confirm, the first Dvd release included the uncensored commentary.

I'd love to get that commentary track, if anyone could rip it.

Honestly it would be worthwhile to compile all the commentaries here for remuxing.

Couple of questions, Bigrob (assuming you can't post pics):
1. Does it have mono? I thought that was advertised at one point. 2. Does it have the blue filter of the other BDs (IE is the snow white)? Hope the 2.0 is the original mix.

Stuart Cohen posted somewhere (blu ray forum I think) that there was indeed a mono mix prepared for the theatrical release (I guess for non-dolby theatres).

To confirmed that: In the past, we have seen a mono track on some 35mm prints of The Thing. Specifically, two different prints that went for or sale. They were both lpps, meaning they were issued in later 82 oppose to most 35mm prints of The Thing that have faded issued earlier in 82.
The assumption is the prints were destined for the second run or drive in market in the US Blade Runner seems to have a similar release.

Nighttime scenes have quite a bit of blue in terms of lighting but the snow is still white. The fire in the kennel scene looks much better (no red or pink colouring on the flames) Thanks given by: PDB
