True Lies HDTV (Film4 HD) Preservation

I have the dvhs and the open Matt HDTV what does this offer?

The film4 HDTV is the same master as the DVHS but less filtered with more detail. Being HDTV though the bitrate is lower. I was going to include the laserdisc tracks as well. I'll post some comparisons later.

Very quick and rough comparison. As you can see the HDTV has been cropped horizontally/vertically causing a very slight horizontal stretch, this could be corrected by combining the two sources to get back the information on the sides. The colour timing is the same on both (unlike the more recent SKY broadcasts which seem to match the STARZ open matte)

The purpose of this comparison is to show how filtered the DVHS is, check out the vents just below the windscreen on the EZ-Van.

It's a shame Film4 don't seem to have the rights anymore, as a couple of extra broadcast caps would have allowed a really good average to have been generated.

Huh, what's "filmized"? Regraded to 35mm?

No offense intended, but that sky looks terrible, as does the "grain".

Edit: The colors and toning look OK though.
