It actually says on Criterion's page that it's a "New high-definition digital restoration." So, hoping it's actually a new transfer from Criterion's own materials! Then again, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is just getting a recycled transfer, and that's a new Criterion release.
FWIW, the FilmStruck transfer does not match the French and Japanese BD. Hope that this project will become obsolete in any case. I might be checking out a 35mm version soon enough, if the Criterion's timing needs fixing. |
