Well nevermind. Looking closer at the HD broadcast has vertical lines all over the broadcast and its not the channel or recording, it's the master they are broadcasting. That and there is no grain

I LOVE this film. I own the NTSC DVD and I believe I have this on LD as well. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Can't see them, but, if they are faint and large vertical lines that are noticeable only in some shots, I had the same problem with Timeline; found a solution thanks to doom9 forum:

if it doesn't work, first than that I used a less elegant way, but worked somehow, maybe can be of some use:

For the grain, the "usual" grain plate could help, maybe something a bit more coarser and/or with higher strenght.

Me too - didn't even know that it existed - but it worked perfectly; often I've found good help on the doom9 forum.

I had to give up on my cap but I did find another HD cap. It's not as "robust" as mine and the color timing is a little different but for the better. There is enough there to work with, that I think I'm back in business on this project.

After reviewing my work, I think I'm going to put this on hold again. Although I was able to get good results, there is just too much banding in the original HD and that is exasperated in my work. So, I guess I'll hold off until I can find a better HDTV broadcast.

Probably you are aware of, but there is a 720p web download floating around... maybe it could be of some help.
