I've got the original Japanese LD release (pan and scan), I can cap it if you still want the PCM track PDB.

Yes I would love it. I have the THX US soundtrack but I'm curious to see if there any differences like there are between the US die hard LDs. I assume the PCM on the THX is a fold down of the ac3. So a second track to compare might be nice. Thanks Zoidberg

What did DH3 look like in cinemas?
Sorry don't want to derail this thread, but with PDB turning DH2 into a project, I figured most conversation on that will be there now. Didn't think we would need a new thread, as everybody is here

I was thinking of getting the trailer for that when it got cheaper...

FYI guys when I capped the PCM I capped the video too and I've crunched it down to a 3GB mkv. I'll upload it to MEGA shortly. It might be of interest to the folks who have been following the thread (and PDB's project thread) so far. You know, to muddy the water a bit more. There's blues, greens, even a little teal in there, also a few wonky skin tones at various points. It's Japanese so there are subs. I'd be interested to know if it's similar to the P&S VHS of days gone by.
Here are some shots to give an idea of the blue tint to the night scenes, plus a couple of old familiars: I'll keep the link up for a while or until I need the space (but probably until PDB releases his project).

Looks cool, thanks Zoidberg

It's uploaded now.

Just found this thread and maybe I've got something interesting - or not:
Austrian channel ORF1 aired the film on Saturday night and they used a HD-master that seems to be sourced from an actual 35 mm-scan that only got some minor cleanup afterwards (or maybe it didn't at all and the print was very clean) - you could even see the cue-marks: The color grading is very different to that on the official Blu-ray and this could be closest as it gets to the original colors. Thanks given by: Beber ,
Cool! Dr. Cooper, that's something that'll interest PDB for his 35mm project.
EDIT : when you guys will be in touch about sharing this gem, please consider sharing the link with me via PM. I'm very interested to see this. |
