How to use eac3to to edit AC3 to avoid transcoding

So a little tangential but a question related to editing without transcoding.

Whilst it's recommended / considered easier to just ditch this methodology for lossless codecs, I'm in a situation where I want to edit a Dolby Atmos mix without transcoding given the nebulous nature of the format. Is there a means of editing a THD file the same way like an AC3 or DTS without transcoding?

I thought eac3 could do THD? I've never tried it so maybe not but I thought that was a thing.
