Looking for the "right" Predator color grading...

Laserdisc looks closer to the Italian VHS than the rest. Admittedly, that VHS is over saturated but the sky during the intro titles, as memory goes, has always been red. The blue sky is totally new to me as I never owned this film on DVD or blu ray and only have recollections from 90s tv broadcasts
If that's the result of an old transfer mistake I don't know, I've never seen it on 35mm.
AKA thxita on OriginalTrilogy
I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.
Checked the widescreen pal LD and the widescreen NTSC and they are the same master I bet but the Pal is miles darker

I also have the DVDfullscreen and this looks somehow the more faithful to the original I think.

I remember the red sky on the credits.... But apart from that I will go with the Full screen not so red for the rest of the film like the skin tones.
Predator is too red but I think it looks better with less saturation. The Deleted scenes look really filmic and It's a pointer to that desaturated look it used to have. The wild Boar being killed by Drake is strong Blue tint. |
