That sexy screenshot looks hot!
Is it just me or does this look like an upscale? None of the screenshot look really sharp, aside from the grain you added. I'm guessing they just had an SD master that they upscaled for the HDTV airing. Feel free to correct me tho.

AFAIK the only source is the LD master, so as with the various versions of it out there, it's a case of making the best of it. I don't think I've seen the film since I gave my laserdisc a spin what's now a long time ago, so much appreciated. Will we ever see an official release?

The source is quite soft, and most probably an upscale; even grain plate can't help too much, sadly. Still, the source seems the best available, and in this version colors are now better than the overly magenta ridden found in the original. Probably it will never be released in HD/UHD, so, unless a film print will be found, this would be the best version, I guess.

This movie, this movie....I can never decide if I love it or hate it. I guess love the first half but hate, I mean hate the second half. Especially after a particularly bad SFX shows up. Regardless, I need to visit it again so count me in for a download spoRv. Thanks for putting it together.
Where you able to get the LD soundtrack for the DS mix?

You know, PDB, I got mixed feelings, too... can't say I hate it, still I don't love it... I like a lot much of the music cues, actors are quite good indeed, SFX are poor but in line with other films of the time, so I can forgive them (sorta). Still, I don't know what I don't like in particular... probably if we would be able to see the whole 210m cut, we'll like it more. But I'm pretty sure it will never happen, sadly...
Not able to get the LD audio track; there is a lot of space to mux it in, though, so if someone would kindly provide it, it would be nice.

You know, you are right about the soundtrack. Love Tangerine Dream's soundtracks.
Concerning the iffy SFX, Wally Veevers, the effect head, died during the production and the effect team never recovered. That and the budget got slashed.

...nazis, supernatural, '80s SFX... not directly comparable, of course, but ...reminds...me...a bit...
