Not only does the home video distribution system ruin the colour timing of classics, they ruin the colour timing new releases.
Godzilla 2014 got a great big slap of green and its darkness and contrast put down to such levels, you could not see a dam thing on the picture.
Interstellar got a yellow tint.
Gravity got a green tint.
Tint everywhere!
Someone is doing this intentionally i swear, there is no reason for it other than some kind of revisionism trend sweeping through home video editors office's.
I'd be inclined to believe it's part of the encoding process.
