I had a feeling that the Kino Lorber BD transfer was going to be similar (or exactly the same as the same) as the Mill Creek BD, considering that the Mill Creek Version came out in 2012-2013, and Film Scanning tech was already advanced 5-6 years ago (they scanned most movies at 2k/4k around that time anyway), and as long as they didn't apply DNR/EE the difference could not be that big.
The Kino Lorber transfer looks like a raw/ungraded untouched master with no color correction applied. It's time for us at fanres to get creative when it comes to color grading this cult classic!!!

how does the 5.1 Audio mix compare to the Old R1 DVD version? The reason why I am asking is because on another Mill Creek/Hollywood Pictures HD remastered BD/DVD (most likely the transfer was done by Disney themselves) of the 1994 Charlie Sheen movie Terminal Velocity, they ruined the Audio Mix of that film and it sounds terrible compared to the older release.

I could see it just on the phone but, apart slight brightness difference, the new and old BDs seem to share the same color grading, and quality improvement (if any) seems also quite small... opinions?

the quality looks identical to me, even though the bitrate is higher on the Kino Lorber BD. The major difference is that the Mill Creek BD has a 24 Bit DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix, while the Kino Lorber has a 16 Bit DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix and a 16 Bit 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track (most likely identical to the optical Dolby SR theatrical mix and Laserdisc Pro Logic track)

If you decide to use the Kino disc at least the bitrate is high so that is something ...

Well, it should be tested, as old BD and WEB have the same color grading, hence blend very well; dunno if the Kino will blend as well...
At least, 2.0 and commentary tracks will be nice!

Few days ago I watched "Dark Phoenix"... and it came to my mind "oh, how much better was Famke in the main role"... this bring to my mind I forgot about Deep Rising, and so here I am!
Video almost ready, audio I have to work a lot on the tracks, as well as subititles... so, if anybody has audio and subs tracks, please post here!
Comparison between BD, DVD DE and Chimera: https://diff.pics/JmukNScIBVxQ/1
As usual, not perfectly the same, but still retain the "spirit" of the DVD DE, with a master that *may* have been taken from an interpositive print... all in all, much better colors and contrast than the dull BD - hope you guys agree!

Update: regrade refined.
Comparison BD, DVD DE, Chimera 2 (new), Chimera 1 (old): https://diff.pics/DqjspNnQ7Odu/1
difference is not night and day, yet the overall contrast of the regrade is now much closer to DVD DE than before.
Latest things to do: check the last version for eventual problems, then prepare the audio and subtitles tracks
EDIT: trying another path https://diff.pics/SrpDa6POLn4O/1
