I think the longer cut had some parts remixed so I would better use the tracks found on the Sony disc.
Add a LD rip and you're good to go!

Are there TV with auto highlight recovery? That would be a gas!

Dunno... what I know for sure, is that Sony BD has indeed some details, on both ends, that could be recovered; do not expect miracles, though, but it's better than nothing! @Stamper: what's about French track?

I'm still waiting for the h264 rip (to sync)

OK got the french LD audio synced
The french LD audio was provided and ripped by Carmelo Mike. What I did: - Deleted audio from the Gaumont logo, added back the lion roar at the beginning and the end. Fixed the sidebreaks sync. Exported to wav. Comparing the waves, the sony 5.1 is pure crap, the sync drifts on and off during the whole film that's why probably they cut it to ribbons to get back in sync. The LD is pitch corrected and sync perfectly to the images once each side break is set. Looking at the way the Sony disc was authored, it appears the film is in two files, broken at the exact same moment the sidebreak occured on all laserdiscs. So I would say this was the Laserdisc master they used as source for the image. I would suggest you just delete the Sony french 5.1 from your project, it's useless and botched. Only a crazy man would listen to that doctored crap. There's only one audio that fits the TC and it's the audio Carmelo Mike provided and is now synced. Feel free to re-encode to DTS-HD or any other format that fits. Hearing the differences in power between both tracks, I will now insist we unite efforts to find an english track LD audio to rip and sync for this project. The difference in impact is night and day.

Unless someone has the Image LD track... Lossless encoding finished, I just to check it out; after the eventual correction, I'll try to sync the LD to it, and do the color matching - previously tests worked fine, so I guess there will be no huge problem... at least, I hope so!

But isn't the Criterion the DC? You would need to patch all the chunks where it switches off the TC with the Sony track.
Yes, someone somewhere must have the Image LD!

IIRC DC has only added shots, and few shots with alternate take, so the DC, properly cut, *should* fit the TC. Or not? Quote:Yes, someone somewhere must have the Image LD! Well, this is undoubtly true... but we need to know who and where he/she is! |
