Personally, I think the French LD matched images look nice, but it looks very "video-y," whereas the Criterion matched images look more like film. Granted, the colors are a little dull, but couldn't that be fixed by boosting the saturation by (this is a rough estimate) 10-15%...??

I also think the colors of the French LD are more pleasing but you have to admit the cold gray look of the Criterion is more fitting for Robocop and it's Detroit setting.
When I think of Robocop I don't think of beautiful, saturated colors.

Oh, but I do care about a 1.66:1 AR. What I don't care about, like at all, is a UAR tetris version of that movie and of any movie for that matter. Make a constant 1.85:1 and/or 1.66:1 and I should be happy.
