Exactly what I'm seeing with ripbot (marban's encodes look lovely, he either uses ripbot or staxrip which as far as I am aware uses same method but with a more complex gui), loving the output. Already stopped the crf encode and restarted using very slow 2 pass 30000kbps high bitrate bluray compliant settings. Better than madvr in my opinion, which I find makes everything just a lttle too dark. Will finish Grease over the next few days and move onto Die Hard to see how that comes out.

Can ripbot output to lossless, for those that might want to do extra work on the downconverted file?
Yep, X5gb, I was just thinking to make a test with a Die Hard clip. I'll do that in a few moments.
Thanks given by: X5gb
Zoidberg, afraid not, same for Staxrip. Maybe you could ask the developer to implement it. Would be nice to fix that pink color timing cockup on Travolta's forehead during the Your the One that I Want scene.
Beber, look forward to the screens for Die Hard. What setting are you using. the crf 18 encode I did on Grease was using a very low bitrate, around average 7mbps which surprised me. That's why I decided to restart it using 2 pass with a high bitrate.

I just let the default CRF 20 for a quick test. It came out @ 12.7 mbps for a 2 minute clip. However the encoding profile is High 4.0 instead of the expected 4.1.

As Doombot said, you can change it to 4.1 once the program has indexed the file. Look forward to the screens.

However, since PQ was designed for 10,000 nit max and bt1886 was designed with a 100 nit max, you'll need to decide where to clip or roll off the EOTF conversion. That's a cool site, already found it in the past to create a PQ to HLG LUT. Is it yours? |
