Rambo trilogy original mixes & color timing

EDIT I own the original DVD NTSC releases, so I'm going to A/B the Dolby Surround mixes to see if they match the one on the Blu-rays.

It looks like the UHD have only the 5.1 remixes (and they suck)

Does this mean the Dolby Surround on the DVD is not the original one? Or did they lose it after they released the DVD?

StudioCanal have been known for mixing down 5.1 tracks to 2.0, so there's always a chance they are not original stereo mixes. Without anything for comparison though it's hard to tell. The LD is lossless unlike the Blu-ray track anyway, so might as well kill 2 birds with one stone by making it available as an option.

As Bronan says, it's worth investigating. On other note, it looks like the UHD or Rambo III doesn't have the burned in subtitles?

The subtitle translation is poor as well compared to the DVD / Blu-ray

its gotta be the original mix on DVD. they were released in 1998, so im pretty sure that they didn't tamper with it, as most early DVD's had untampered mixes.

I have been playing with Resolve since my last post in this thread, and I think I've learned enough to fix my issues with StudioCanal's First Blood remaster after I sync the LD. Unfortunately real life has been hectic lately so I haven't had much time to devote to hobby projects

There are german UHD2BD with color fixes on a bloody forum if you are into it.

Unfortunately, the project maker who created the UHD2BD regrade has also added an ugly EE filter to sharpen it as well as the other two movies. Thankfully on his UHD2BD project for Starship Troopers he created two, one with EE and one without, after a kind request.
