Paramount has a few shoddy HD masters that have those vertical lines. The old Silver Bullet master comes to mind.
Maybe some strange sampling error?

Just to let people know that I've now got my laserdisc player back in my office and hooked up to my computer so I'll be taking requests for rips for a limited time. I've just ripped Streets of Fire and the following discs are currently in the queue:
12 Monkeys (Signature) The Fifth Element Men in Black As before I'll be doing the rips when I can, and each one has to be done in real time so it's a fairly time consuming process, so please be patient  (2020-05-18, 03:00 AM)Hudson32 Wrote: Can I request Star Wars Definitive Collection and The Phantom Menace please. I suspect that these tracks will have already been ripped at some point, but if you can't get them elsewhere I could rip them for you. Would you want any of the extras or are you only after the films? If you want the extras then please let me know which ones.

Ooh Men in Black. I remember seeing it in cinema as a kid and the sound really stuck with me, especially the bit where they shoot the alien at the beginning. Would the LD mix differ a lot from DVD/BD?
Also noticed you have Twin Peaks Visual Soundtrack. Are you able to capture video as well? Would love a preservation of the complete feature as it’s not available on any other format.

Anyone have any Bambi laserdisc possible to rip by any chance? Looking for that for a project of mine.
Edit: And anyone have any idea which Bambi laserdisc might have the original mix?

I'm honestly no expert on how close mixes are to their original theatrical form. I'm just here to chew bubble gum and rip PCM. And I'm all out of bubble gum. I used to be able to capture LD video but it wasn't particularly great quality. I believe that most, if not all of the Visual Sountrack is on YouTube though. Let me know if you want to do a rip of the PCM audio, though it's probably exactly what's on any official soundtrack CDs.
