Zack Snyder's Justice League
#51
My assumption is that the single film version will be one that is cut to be more like an 'acceptable' single film experience. So something closer to the director's cut of BatSup?

So there will be TWO snydercuts?

You'll get the four 1-hour episodes first. And then later we'll see a more 'theatrical cut' that's paced for a film.

I guess it's the opposite order of HATEFUL EIGHT on netflix. The film first. And then the episodic version with some more scenes.

My assumption is that the four 1-hour parts will be the only official one. I guess fans will have to rip the UHD version from HBO Max, then edit the 4 parts together, put an intermission halfway through, add a musical overture, crop the whole thing to 1.78:1 for a fullscreen 16/9 version, and thus make a 1080p fan edit roadshow out of it. So, yeah, a fanmade reverse Hatefull Eight kind of thing could be pretty cool.

This is what I was basing my assumption on:

Not much to go on, but if it's true that it's eventually going to be put together as a single experience, I gotta think that it won't simply be slapping the 4 episodes together and removing the credits in between.  I think Snyder is aiming for this to eventually be shown in theaters should they ever open back up.  And with the aspect ratio (which I'm all for), I'm wondering if he's shooting for an IMAX blow-up release.

Also, does HBOMax even have any UHD content? As far as I'm aware, it only supported up to 1080p.

All right, if an official release has been hinted for a full feature length, then cool.
I have no idea if HBO Max supports UHD. It doesn't even exist in France: I guess OCS here will have Snyder's Justice League maybe, as they're the one showing HBO TV shows.

I would presume they will release an UHD of this eventually, meaning a Blu Ray.

For sure.

I wonder what they'll do with the aspect ratio for the physical releases...

As for HBOMax, I only had it for a month (while I had a free subscription), but from what I saw there was no 4K content. Same as HBO Go.

Eventually, yeah. I wouldn't expect them to do that right away, though. They probably want it to be exclusive to HBO Max for a while for people to subscribe.

They say UHD, HDR, and Atmos are planned but haven't given any time frame as to exactly when.

Why stop at 1.78:1? Let's crop it down to 2.76:1 and make it reaaal wide. Je plaisante, but I also wouldn't be surprised the film gets cropped to please the "I need my HDTV screen filled! I hate black bars!".

Exactly, most people will hate having black pilars left and right in the 16/9 TV era. General audience don't even understand squat about aspect ratios. That's why "IMAX" presentations (Nolan's for instance) are full 16/9 on home video. Having both would be ideal.
