To this day, there has never been (and perhaps never will be) an official version of the Extended cut of John Landis's THE BLUES BROTHERS in its original stereo format. Having just the 5.1 / 7.1 mixes is great and all, but those edited fake sound effects can be pretty annoying and distinctly obvious to hear, coupled with the general-but-way-too-clean audio. The only way to enjoy this classic "filthy mouths & bad attitude" in all its original magnetic and vibrating glory is to watch the Theatrical version from the:
There's also the German Turbine BD that happens to include both the Extended and Theatrical version's original stereo. Only in Germany, not in America.
As a small commemoration of the film's selection for preservation in the Library of Congress back in 2020, I thought it'd be really to edit & create a Theatrical-based Stereo mix of the Extended cut! Unfortunately, I'm not an expert at editing & mastering such extensive audio for movies unlike others users here and there, so I'm hoping someone surprises me with their attempts to create this Original Extended Stereo Audio Mix of The Blues Brothers (1980)!
