[Help] Weird analogue / digital audio alignment on an LD
#11
You know, I think 2ms could just be due to some imperfect process like the tape they recorded the master from not running 100% even or something like that. I could even imagine that running the same tape twice on the same machine could result in such a small discrepancy, even on good hardware. Maybe that's what happened?

Could be. Just weird that it's the first disc I've ever seen with *any* discrepancy. Captured quite a few now and every one with analogue and digital so far has *exactly* matched from start to finish.

The 2 ms is side 2 btw; side 1 has about double that by the end of the side. But even so, not really an issue for the purposes of what I want to do with it, it just confused me. And obviously was worried there might have been a problem with either my player or even just system config, until I tried another disc and it was totally fine. As always, I'm interested in the process behind the results, not just trying to "fix" it, which is really the main reason I asked.

Maybe just a tiny bit looser QC than all the other discs I've checked to date! Never mind.

Most probably because the analog track is just a mere copy of the digital one - hence (I guess) no analog tape master, but maybe a digital-to-analog on the fly.
