[Released] Back to the Future Trilogy - German Version Preservation

At least a generation of viewers has experienced Back To The Future in localized form in Germany. There, the movie was called ZURÜCK IN DIE ZUKUNFT and had the following logo.

Since the DVDs (and then the BluRays) came out, the localized logos basically disappeared. TV stations switched to newer HD sources, thus retaining the English-language logo (or even constructing some custom design abominations). So far, German localization was retained on old Universal VHS & LD copies and TV recordings.

Therefore the idea for this project, using the newest 4K restorations from 2020.

Following work was done:

• Upscaling of the German titles from SD to HD (including "To Be Concluded" and "The End")
  
• Synchronization of German 2.0 LD audio with the HD picture (English 2.0 LD audio is also included)
  
• Upscaling & reinstatement of "To Be Continued" title at the end of Part I (it was in English on the German home video version, so it remains this way)
  
• Creation of location intertitles in English and German (ASS) for the beginning of Parts II+III
  
• Full English & German subtitles; some fixing up was done on the latter.

The new Blu-ray’s look fantastic considering they come from the same 4K as the UHD Discs which makes me wonder why couldn’t the UHD Disc just stick with the 5.1 remix with the option for the original stereo tracks instead of wasting their money on an Atmos mix. Sorry for the rant but I did see the images of your work on re-creating the German localized version. And yes this kind of washes away the bad transfer from over 10 years ago.
