I would be happy just to hear the original sound effects for the plasma weapons!

Hi Lionmane, I did such a "fix" however it does sound halfway through. Despite the original sounds being back, the rest of the mix still sound wimp instead of dark. Also some sequences like the Tech Noir are so messed up, that the only way to get the original feeling back is reinstate some moments from the mono. Though the experiment was great to do, I retired this fix as in the end I wasn't 100% happy with the results.
I think the mono is the only way to go, and that the 5.1 should be totally remixed from the stems by Gary Rydstrom himself this time, instead of just supervising the work done by assistants as was the case for this controversial remix.

If Rydstorm wasn’t held down by the constraints to make the remix like T2’s sound design which it fails to do properly, I think we would’ve been treated to a decent remix. I mean many people would still prefer the mono, but the weapons would sound more real and people wouldn’t be complaining that much. But Jim gots to have his revisions, if I were Gary, I would’ve redone the mix from the stems and rejected the new mix, who gives a care what Jim thinks I would’ve delayed the DVD just to get the 5.1 mix right.

Got the Der Rabe version on the original forum a month ago (it seems down now, i got lucky)
Put the english mono back (that .45 sound had so much impact on me when i was a kid, even though the police precinct shooting needs some work, shotgun with the sound of the rifle...) and did a h265 encode to get something lighter (still a bit more than 8gb), just watched it on my 4k tv and it's beautiful. Can't wait to see what you are doing with this, but this umatic regrade is, for now, the best version i've ever seen of the movie, i wasn't born when it came out in theater... ^^

How are you going with this project? Sorry to ask, but I care too much about this one to not ask, haha

I'm done on the encoding, all that remains is syncing both the Image LD and Image DVD.
I need basically a day and it's over. I'll try this week-end or maybe tomorrow. Thanks given by: The Aluminum Falcon , crampedmisfit1990 , Guiyomus , crissrudd4554 , Kreeep
