[Help] Mad Max Fury road variations of mixes

Hi guys,

So I was browsing through my Fury Road different editions collection, and I'm kinda confused now about the variation of mixes that can be found on these.

It looks like there are different encoding of the mixes depending on the releases, not all of them sounding the same.

From what I can make up those are the main ones:

- English Dolby TrueHD Audio 5692 kbps  7.1 / 48 kHz / 5692 kbps / 24-bit (AC3 Embedded: 5.1-EX / 48 kHz / 384 kbps / DN -4dB)
- English Dolby Atmos/TrueHD Audio 6077 kbps 7.1-Atmos / 48 kHz / 6077 kbps / 24-bit (AC3 Core: 5.1-EX / 48 kHz / 384 kbps)
- English Dolby Digital Audio 448 kbps 5.1 / 48 kHz / 448 kbps
- English iTunes stereo mix 192kbps AAC

However browsing the web, I find instances of those listed there and there:

- English Dolby Digital + 7.1 E-AC3 1536kbps
- English DTS-HD Master Audio / 7.1 / 48 kHz / 4687 kbps / 24-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 24-bit) labeled as "original" so no re-encode
- English Dolby Digital + 5.1 640 kbps
- English Dolby Digital 384 kbps

What are they? I assume the last one is an extraction from either the Atmos or the True-HD tracks, but are the others encodes (or embeds) that appears in foreign territories? I muxed both the DD 448 and 384 in one file, and they sound completely different, the 448 one being superior sounding.

As there is an iTunes Atmos version, I *guess* the DD+ 7.1 in your list may be that (so it *should* still be encoded in Atmos)

There is also a Kaleidescape Atmos version, but don't know if it's possible to extract it somehow.

Your right some of those might be platform originals.

It looks like the regular BD and the Black & Chrome share the same sync.

However the UHD is a different sync with a slight delay. I need to calculate this as I wanted to gather all the soundtracks on my own custom version just to wade through all of them and see the differences.

So I did some digging and it seems the last two listed:

- English Dolby Digital + 5.1 640 kbps
- English Dolby Digital 384 kbps

Are actually some custom re-encodes. The first is just the Dolby True HD recompressed, and the second the extraction core audio from it.

That leave these two, where I'm trying to find out where they originate from:

- English Dolby Digital + 7.1 E-AC3 1536kbps
- English DTS-HD Master Audio / 7.1 / 48 kHz / 4687 kbps / 24-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 24-bit)

The first is probably on a streaming offer somewhere, the second probably come from a foreign Blu-ray release, which I was not able to localise yet.

There seem to exist two english Dolby Atmos encodes.
One based upon a DD+ 7.1 core, and the second one bases upon a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 core.
So maybe the DD+ 7.1 floating is core inside the second Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Atmos DD+ 7.1 was on the 3D BD.

Also, on a german Movie database it is said that the US streaming version from moviesanywhere had english DD+ 5.1 Audio.

So I checked on iTunes, and it looks like the SD 1080p transfer has been updated with a new different master.

It looks like it's a SD version of the 4K UHD stream, whereas all the available Blu-ray discs are the original color timing of the film as seen on the 2K DCP in theaters.

I have Amazon Prime, so I checked there too. It looks like they offer the 4K stream, and that the SD 1080p is also a downconvert of the stream.

That makes another Fury Road variation, this time with the PQ!

- Original Blu-ray, DVD & DCP.
- 3D conversion.
- Black & Chrome
- 4K UHD
- New 1080p version from 4K UHD (streaming only Amazon/AppleTV)

If anyone have access to both of those, thanks if you can compare and confirm, as I can only see this on my computer and not my TV.
