Total Recall (1990) Laserdisc [LV68901-WS] LBX-SRD-THX synced to UHD
#11
Do we need to change the UHD framerate for this? I'm completely confused on Total Recall releases and restrained getting the UHD due to the LD sync being at a different framerate and asking us to doctor the UHD from 24fps to 23.976fps.

The Eagle UHD is at 24. The LD rip I have (I don't know if it's the one from this thread or another one) is already sped up and synced to it.

Is the 5.1 on the Eagle 4K the 70mm 6 track mix?

This US LD track sounds a lot better to my ears than the JP LD track. It's more dynamic and some louder sounds like gunshots sound somewhat crackly and indistinct on the JP track.

What about the 2.0 mix on the Total Recall R1 Live/Artisan DVD's?

Those early Live/Artisan DVD's are typically ports of masters used for the last LD/VHS editions, so their sound (despite being lossy DD and weather they used the same track or a different/5.1 mix) would be roughly the same as the last LD.

I've synced the 2.0 track from the 2001 DVD to the 4K, if anyone's interested. Yeah, the original is 192 kbps, but it sounds pretty decent to me. I haven't heard the US LD track so am unable to say if it's the same mix.

I experimented with this about a year ago, and found I had problems changing the UHD video framerate with both eac3to and tsmuxer. The issue was that the Dolby Vision layer didn't seem to survive the process intact. tsmuxer has had many updates since then, so perhaps it might work better now, but I haven't revisited it. Chewtobacca (banned?) also indicated that ffmpeg might be able to successfully do this, but again I have not tried it myself.

Easier to change the LD audio speed, then. I like to do it by the resampling method: resample from the original 44100 to 48000, set to 48048, then resample back to 48000 (or 44100 I suppose).

I remember buying this on VHS. T2 teaser trailer was before the film. Those were days!

I'm using the latest nightly tsmuxer from the github and retiming the DV layer works. You just have to be sure to change the speed on both video track 1 and 2.
