[Help] Audio Delay - What does what

What the + and - actually do. Can someone say what is what

When I add a + value does the audio move forward on the video or does the audio come earlier?

I know this is actually basic, but I always confuse myself and then the values I send someone are not correct.

If you apply a positive (+) delay to a track, it will start later than it originally did, shifting it forward relative to other tracks.

So then a negative (-) delay will make it start earlier, of course.

(I can admit that this wasn't obvious to me either when I first started messing around with demuxing DVDs long ago. )
