Is it possible a SDDS track was made for the original theatrical showing of the director's cut but never used?

This is yours (source?):
and this is mine, from theatrical PAL DVD: Which is right?!? I tend to trust more old sources... maybe because I'm an old dinosaur!

The SDDS logo is on the end credits of the LaserDisc (theatrical cut). Could trust this even older source
Also having SDDS does not mean 8-channel mix. The majority would have been SDDS-6 (5.1). Apparently there were around 2000 movies with SDDS in theatres and here is the list with 8-channel mixes - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_8_...SDDS_films

Don't forget this is 4 movies we are talking about
The professional (Sony) Leon (Gaumont FR Touchstone UK) Leon Version Integrale (Gaumont) Leon The Professional International Cut Leon Version Integrale had a French cinema release through Gaumont in 96ish and that was Dolby Stereo mix (posters confirm this) The changes in audio and credits are not unexpected.

Yours will be the European TC from Buena Vista, which didn't have SDDS, but did have Dolby Stereo Digital. Both are correct for their respective releases (except that the BV only used the standard Dolby Stereo logo on screen).

According to a reply I received on another forum:
Quote:Almost all prints were SR only. There were a very few handful of SDDS struck, and I mean a FEW. Of course a Sony release on UHD must have no problems to use it! But about it being an SDDS-8 release, I don't think so; I bet it is only a 5.1 version. |
