Trying to make video issues visible to average viewers

I've struggled with trying to get the frozen grain and many other issues in The Godfather UHD to be more visible for examples to put in a review. It doesn't really show in screencaps of the 1080p BD where they're harder to see and when I make clips and zoom in it's not as horridly obvious as it is on my OLED. I've tried recording off my screen but only get occasional flashes to kind of being able to see it. Plus my phone camera changes the image which doesn't help.

Has anyone had experience in trying to make deeply rooted issues like this stand out more for argument's sake?

An animated gif might help in showing the issues.

Also changing the look of the video; over brightening or over sharpening sometimes helps to highlight issues. I oversharpen to help see compression issues.

The problem as I see it would be that going to such lengths to highlight the issue would lead to claims of exaggerating the issue.
The truth is the 'average' viewer won't be bothered by such problems, same with frame interpolation or incorrect picture settings like torch mode. A lot of viewers think grain of any kind is noise and should be DNRed to oblivion

I think the point is more to try and show an enthusiast what the issue is by highlighting/exaggerating it so then they know what to look for and will notice it under normal conditions. You're not going to convince the people who like the T2 UHD so don't even bother.

I think I’ll just go ahead as-is without anything and include all my viewing notes so they can look at it themselves if they even bother. Most of my audio criticisms get blank stares anyway.

Paramount has been doing awful stuff that only gets addressed in forums. The changing of every Indy trilogy effects shot was insane. So is this.

then if they're not willing to listen...let it go. Move on. Change the topic or block them. These people are not your real-life friends or family. They're internet people and who cares if they are convinced or not? Friends/family are more willing to hear you out, and you benefit from being able to actually show them in person, and they're more willing to listen. Other than that, dust off your feet and move on, let it go

I think it's always worth raising these issues on the forums, after all that's what they are for. If anyone is curious and asks for elaboration then go into more detail. I think the really deep dive stuff is better served in a blog or maybe a video essay.
The truth is by and large most people are blissfully unaware of a lot of the studio shenanigans and always have been. Obviously the UHD market is pretty niche and should in theory be more discerning, but HDR and Atmos seems to do interesting things to a person.

Regarding showing frozen grain, maybe something like this can work? An individual can simulate motion by holding right arrow key and hopefully notice the repeated grain patterns. Each screenshot will need to be uploaded in a separate column which can be a bit tedious.

yes the people who just want to argue for arguments sake (contrarians and trolls) aren't worth our time. But someone curious or wanting to learn more is worth spending a little time on to elaborate. Then in that case we are putting in helpful tips and knowledge as an investment to our community.
