[In progress] The Dark Knight full 4K IMAX 1.43:1 restoration
#31
Thanks, a re-render would be excellent to fix both frame rate to constant (CFR) at 23.976fps and fix sync, didn’t notice any issues during the few scenes i watched but could this be down to the variable frame rate knocking out the sync of the audio which I assume is 23.976fps or is it some other issue like frames missing etc.

yeah so somehow the 16:9 render managed to get an extra 3 frames somewhere during the film, so watching the end of teh film its like 125ms out of sync. Undecided regardless ive re-rendered it and it syncs fine now so all i need to do is go and encode out the release files and upload them, should be done within 2 days assuming it goes as smooth as it currently is.

Look forward to seeing your efforts. I assume using CFR.

ok! the encoding is all done, the HEVC encode is still uploading (~6hrs to go) but the other two are uploaded if you wish to check them out. all are CFR this time also.

Thsnks bobbster574, will check AVC 16:9 out. Hopefully CFR encode fixes the micro stutters on my setup.

hiya! Tongue

i have yet to make significant progress on 4K, but ive been figuring out workflow stuff this last couple weeks, and wanted a bit of variety so i decided to do a clip from Rises instead.

ofc the IMAX shots are composited with the 4KBD, and the 35mm shots are just the 4KBD but regraded to SDR. im kinda new to regrading 4KBDs like this so feedback is welcome regarding the grade, as well as the compositing if theres anything you notice. if anyone wants the clip in higher quality (4K h.265 10bit ~34Mbps + 5.1 FLAC) i have put it on my Gdrive

i also took one of the shots and seperated the steps if anyone is at all interested lol

just so its clear i have not started on restoring Rises in full, i just wanted to look at some different shots

slowly getting back into the swing of things and i wanted to see if i could get some feedback on the 4K regrade

the grade isnt an exact match of the Blu-ray but it is intended to be in the same vein; hopefully it looks good!

the clip is up on yt youtube, and a higher quality file is available on my Gdrive (h265 10bit ~67Mbps).

the clip also has an IMAX shot if you want to take a look at the 4K IMAX quality. this is one of the DVD shots rather than a bonus disc shot so the best is yet to come! Tongue

This looks incredible! Your regrade looks very close to the look of the bluray, in my opinion
