I have a mkv with Dolby Vision Profile 8 I want to burn onto a UHD Blu Ray to replace to HDR only video stream, and Dolby Vision on UHD discs are usually Profile 7, how do I do so since I'm new to making custom Blu ray folders and discs?

There's a command line program called dovi_tool, I've used it a couple times to remove the DV layer from some files that wouldn't play right on my Samsung 4K monitor, but I believe it can change profiles.

Hi.
It's possible using official Dolby tools.
I've attempted this and you need a big big ssd.
It's not even officially documented.
You can't do this with dovi_tools.
Some people advise to mux dv P8 into a dummy 1080p video
as a FEL layer but it does not work like that.
It won't be an improvement, just a bigger file size.
Maybe do I tools will support this eventually.
Im also looking for this in order to use streaming DV in a Custom UHD structure.
Regards

I think I’m in a similar boat here.
I have a single track, dual later DV mkv (profile 5?) I would like to convert to profile 7 for authoring a uhd. It seems like this should be easy enough with a simple script, but don’t have much/any experience with dovi_tools and it seems most research points to people doing the opposite of what I’m attempting.
Using a mac, fwiw.
Thanks for any help!
