I'm not even sure there are any functioning CDS units full stop.

If the data blocks could be converted back to a bitstream then there is possibly a chance of reverse engineering the compression, it is a PCM codec so there is no psychoacoustic algorithm, but there is redundant data/metadata etc.

Hard to tell from Youtube on my phone but the new trailer looks ‘slightly’ less waxy than the current 4K - still no grain but a new UHD release could be a better basis for a future project? Hopefully Silberman doesn’t look like he’s made of clay anymore..

Same master but maybe different encode? Even if we get the pre-3D conversion version of the same master that should be an improvement and probably as good as we'll ever get

It won't make a diffence. All Cameron films on UHD are the masters for life. If they "improve" them that will be worse, just upscales/upgrade from already approved masters like for Aliens or Titanic. It's over for official media with that guy filmography sadly.

There is another 35mm scan going round, labelled as the super 35mm scan but its not a super 35mm open matte scan at all, it does have some better flesh hues in the bar knife scene, better than the WB optical one, i think but not as sharp as that scan https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZRoNib_...VfKMT/view

Where can I find this version? After all, these screenshots didn't just pop up out of nowhere, did they? Where is this release located?

The version i have : Terminator.2.Judgment.Day.199
1.Theatrical.Cut.35mm.2160p En.mkv 60 Go with an horrible dts hd soundtrack, which is like a bad encoded mp3 192 kbps.
In fact, picture is fantastic, but I don't know which one to choose 62 go version or 20 go version ? Colors are different, the 20 go version is more blue and orange than the other.
