Both the Criterion and the 4K seem to have a lot of noise reduction.I've got the Criterion CAV, the Sony Columbia CLV which seems to port the Criterion master plus the good ol' alternating ratios SE DVD. Now if only I could get this doggone usb capture unit to play nice and allow me to do a bit perfect capture...that's what I'm still struggling with.

I’ve noticed quite a lot of mono mixes (Criterion Blu-ray’s especially) have really low numbers on spec. Is that aggressive NR or do mono mixes typically look like that?

For some reason most distributors think that analogue "hiss" is terrible and will do anything to remove it. regardless of the overall affect it has on the track. Criterion is especially guilty of this, which is pretty shameful since they consider themselves archivist dedicated to "presenting each film as its maker would want it seen"

Has anyone done Saturday Night Fever? I'd be interested in syncing if it hasn't been done yet. I believe one of the Laserdiscs is the best source for its original Dolby Stereo track.
i managed to get Davinci Resolve studio and can finally now do bitperfect 44.1 syncs; it was locked at 48 before
so if anyone wants anything done i have a shitload of free time , ive done over 50 syncs so far so im pretty fast and accurate at it. I kept a few of my timelines so I might reupload some of the ones ive done later. Thanks given by: NeonBible , alleycat , SpookyDollhouse ,

Anyone having Laserdiscs from the "Poltergeist"-films?
The AC3-Laserdiscs of "Poltergeist" and "Poltergeist 2" would be interesting to compare to the newer 5.1-mixes from the Blu-rays - and the first one might be the original 6-channel-mix from the 70 mm-prints. Would also be interesting to compare a LD-capture of "Poltergeist 3" to the 2.0-track from the Shout! release.
Hmm, I have one of the JP laserdiscs of the original Poltergeist but it only has PCM, no AC3

Any chance for The Duellists (1977)?
It seams the US LD has the original mono mix. The US and Australian BD (same content as US) has only a 5.1 and a 2.0 Stereo (possibly faltdown of the 5.1) mix. The US DVD seams not to include the mono mix. At least reviews suggest it's also a stereo/surround mix for 2.0 track. If anyone has the LD and can capture it with video, I'd gladly sync it Thanks
