The quality of the video is not a big deal, the title card will have to be reconstructed digitally anyway, you don't really need to capture the whole film, just that scene is fine. The audio on the contrary, it would be good to have that from laserdisc, is it PCM?

So far I have the English LD audio PCM (from SpoRV) and the Italian DTS 2.0 from a BluRay I bought (original mix, not a 5.1 downmix)

I do not see any dolby logos on the disc and packaging.
It is stated to be stereo.

At the Moment I am capturing the Intro, as a image reference for your recreation.

Both tracks, English and Italian, that I have are stereo. German stereo should be a nice add-on

Okay, first I'll upload the Video with the Intro. After That I'll try to figure out how to rip the Track the best way.
Last time I tried to rip the Total Recall LD, I had PRoblems with the audio.

also: I just checked: It is not analog but digital on the disc.

I think it is better to rip the Audio with the Video, so, if you gonna try to bring it together to one file, and sync it to the new Video, it may help to hav the LD Video as references.

If you can, sure. Good luck with the audio, it's our best shot to get a good sound also in German (I see that German BR also got a 5.1 treament).

As for the video you kindly snatched for me, I suspect that the German title does not come from 35mm but instead it has been added by the company who released the Laserdisc, I say this just by judging the almost motionless German title (while the rest of the screen jumps all over the place) and the brighter shade of white it comes with.
Others might want to have a look but I'm pretty sure it's not how it appeared on 35mm, shame! The audio though, I would still like to add that.

Regarding the Video: Yeah, that seems to be the case.
If it had German credits in theatre it is saddening, that this seems to be lost with home video.

I remember quite a few Movies that, pre DVD Era, had german starting credits, and now only got plain english international ones.
Even if it is not really a big thing, it is somekind... well.. it feels like a big thing.

My capturing PC decided to dowload some Windows updates, so I have to wait a bit, until I can start to capture the Audio.

What's about the audio on the sample, is it okay, or do I have to try, to change something? (for the sample I reencoded it into flac, to minimize Download size, that won't be the case if I capture the whole Audio.)

It is important! That's what I aim to preserve for the Italian public (and if the occasion arises, for everybody else). DVDs totally eliminated localized versions. Seamless branching should have been employed to ensure that every country had its own version but it's more cost effective to reuse American masters for everyone than scanning negatives for each different country so localized versions have basically disappeared all together a part from rare cases.
I consider this a cultural loss because countless of man-hours have been spent at the time in order to ensure that people could read credits and on-screen text in their own language, making the film experience "equal" for everybody. There is nothing worse than DVD subtitles describing intros written in English because that's not how the film appeared in cinemas in our countries, that's just the US DVD with our audio slapped on on the cheap. I hate it.

It's hard to judge the audio of the file you sent me because it goes fast, double the speed probably. I don't know if it's the encode or what. For a full capture it would be good to have a PCM wave file (typically around 1gb in size for the whole track)

The recent "Hateful Eight" German BluRay got the German title cards, and everything.

I remember Kubrik's "The Shining" in German Television with German text on the typewriter, instead of the english ones.
Seems to be far mor common to put work into localisation back then.

I really would prefer seamles branched Versions, it is a great technical im,provement that this is possible with DVD and BD.

But I getting the normalized english credits is not as worse as getting some badly blurred and badly done localization onto the blur.

Also the Italian BR of Hateful Eight got the right treatment, luckly. One of the few... and only because it ended up in the hands of a distributor who only uses cinema masters.

The German part of my preservation will have to make use of the US track for it's video unfortunately. Unless somebody comes up with a 35mm version
