Bad Lieutenant 1992 Uncut Audio
#1
Hi All,

When Bad Lieutenant was originally released the soundtrack contained the track "Signifying Rapper" by Scholly D, later after Led Zeppelin took legal action the track was removed and replaced. Hippie Dalek is kindly ripping the uncut soundtrack from the NTSC LD which I will then sync up to the HD blu ray.

I understand the only visual difference is during the end credits, as different songs are credited. Just wondered what people's thoughts are here - would you prefer a much lower quality version of the credits with the correct songs listed? Or retain the HD credits? Or keep the HD credits and add the LD credits as an extra feature?

Also I don't suppose anyone has the French DVD or the UK Fabulous Films DVD? They have a few unique interviews I could include.

Thanks

Nobody watch the credit so no matter. Is the song inside the film? If this is it, then just the song reinstated is awesome.

Were the credits completely redone or did they just "photoshop" the reference to the old song? If the latter, one could recreate that small part in HD or upscale it and insert it into the HD credits?

Yes it looks like it appears four times throughout the movie.

I'll check that, might do a small test and see how it looks.

It is reputed that the main attack that drives the film's plot was slightly reedited since the music was changed. There may be other small edits but I'm not for sure. I got lucky and found the untouched LD and admit to really enjoying the 1.33 framing on it. It would be great to sync the LD audio to the BD release but again I'm not for sure if there are any editing differences.

I've got the LD now but no way to capture video. Best I can offer is if there are any bits that don't sync up right, let me know the timestamp and I'll send you a quick phone-pointed-at-the-TV video of the segment. Not ideal but might help.

Regarding the credits I'd recommend trying to recreate part or all of them in HD. From the screenshot you sent me they're simple black text on white so shouldn't be too hard to recreate.
Program material is recorded on the other side of this disc...

I've actually got an uncut video of this, not sure if it came from the laserdisc or the VHS though. So my plan would be to initially sync the LD audio up to my low quality video, then use that to sync to the blu ray and that way I can see if there are any visual differences.

In terms of recreating the credits in HD, is it a matter of exporting the video to individual frames, put each from into photoshop one at a time, blank out the old credit and insert the new one, then rebuild the video?

Ok this project is now complete, all I did was sync the audio that HippieDalek captured and replace the blu ray audio, leaving the rest of the official blu ray intact. Big thanks to TomArrow who was a great help with a particular part of the audio.

In terms of editing it was pretty much in line with blu ray, the odd frame here and there, but interestingly the blu ray had a 3 second shot that wasn't in the LD, and it was right in the middle of one of the signifying rapper sections, but it works and I'm happy with the results.

PM me for the links, contributing/long term members only please. Contributing means active members of the forum who post and/or make their own projects.

High Resolution cover and disc art available from @Pineapples101 Here.

Just to clarify this is a project that I have made for myself which I am choosing to share. If you don't like the project, if you think it should have been done differently then feel free to keep that to yourself and consider doing your own project.
