Yeah, I was just playing around LOL.
The only thing that worries me, is that those release starts a new trend in the 4K format where every old film shot in 35mm, just gets it's 15 years old scan for Blu-ray tarted up with A.I. and upscaled to 4K. This could spell the end of the format, because not every film released as the JC aura.

I think it's probably the 2014 version of the scan from AMZN streaming. According to YouTube videos, The Abyss 4K is a mix of this scan + probably some parts rescanned in 2019 (including the SE scenes).

The color timing really differ, the new version is better in some parts, lesse in others.

A new 4k/8k scan isn't cheap or easy.
I'm wondering if this was just a studio attempt to save money, turn a profit, and then use the profit to do a real UHD scan in the future so they can sell the movies again.
