Nice! Yes your example are superior, but I think you're not using the full dynamic range. That maybe is why I think they look off.

PaNup is just a way to use two different versions (originally PAL and NTSC DVDs), then upscale and merge them, so if there are both PAL and NTSC DVDs, it's still a valid option to increase the quality - refresh my memory, isn't the PAL RU DVD the only version - apart NTSC laserdiscs?
I remember I tested briefly the GP video Vs image, and found that quality is better in the image versopm, even if slower - without counting the fact the video must be split in frames and then back to video. Can't say how fast is using DVD as source, but GPU is VERY important.

Yes, I said it in my earlier post, the T2 full screen is the only version.
I was just wondering if GP would beat a panup into revealing detail in general. But if as you say, your own workflow is better, take the latest one It's true that DVD as this crazy red bias LOL. Maybe we could sync the Squeeze LD AC3 tracks (including the mono version) to your release?

PaNup combined with GP might give even better results in theory, if they are from the same source master. I also encountered situations where the PAL and NTSC master are different though (even though I thought they shouldn't be), for example old DVDs of Big Lebowski. My theory is that the telecine machines they used could be set to a specific output format, either SD PAL or SD NTSC and then deliver that, so they likely just did two runs, but of course you end up with tiny little differences between the two runs that make the alignment imperfect.

Yes I remember trying to Panup Mad Max 2 NTSC & Pal and nothing aligned.

Some more CC'd pics for those interested:
Some more comparison pics (still WIP): DVD/Upscale Also I'm noticing beside having a lot of spots, damage, etc...many shots are framed poorly and buck up against the edge of the frame. For example: You can also see it in the above pic of John's foster mom (Jenette Goldstein). So I'm trying to best re-frame these shots to fix them. Looks really good! The Sarah vs Silberman shot, just keep and eye on the highlights, it looks a bit too hot to me.

I'm spinning the T2 OM upscale into it's own thread here:
