[Help] Real time subtitle editor

Looking for a subtitle editor that I can use in real time with the video.

Aegisub should be able to load various video formats, it's pretty old though. I usually just load an audio file and time with that. Maybe Subtitle Workshop, I haven't used it much.

SubtitleEdit is the one I frequently use for all kind of subtitle tampering.

I'm specifically looking to add English subs to cover hard-coded Russian ones, hence the need to see in real time if they're doing the job.

I've used SubtitleEdit in the past, works pretty well.
IDK if it gives you the option of putting a black background to the subs like old school closed captioning, that would probably be the best easy way to cover up those subs.

There is an up to date fork of Aegisub, and plans to merge it back into the main codebase and make a new release.

Any version of Aegisub lets you put a background underneath the subs, edit the style and tick "Opaque box".

Ah great, I haven't been keeping up with developments, so good to hear that people are still working on it.
