Well, I was able to finally grab the non-open matte HDTV version of LOTR after two years of searching, so... never say never!

Things have a way of resurfacing after years, when collector's go through their stuff and decide to "re-leak" some of their collection. So, it might come back around. Then, on the other hand, some stuff I have just seen disappear completely
 Hopefully, this isn't one of those times...

Hi, the HDTV open-matte versions, were they extended editions, and only the 1st film... or all 3? Thanks.

AFAIK, 1 and 2 were theatrical cut, and someone inserted the upscaled EE DVD parts; 3 seems untouched, as it has different image size, and the TV logo (not present in the other two).

In any case, I'm hoping for some news regarding the LOTR Trilogy in open matte on HDTV, and any recordings thereof, so I can do open matte versions of the Extended Editions and/or the Director's Cuts (the theatrical versions--IIRC Jackson preferred them, hence Director's Cuts) for my restorations of all three films.

Whole trilogy was broadcasted in open matte in HD like week ago on Polish TV, but I forgot to do capture. I'll try to keep that in mind next time it's on.
