They look almost all great!

Still have to test LOTR2 and 3, as *it seems* (according to something I read online some time ago) that fullscreen and/or open matte are mainly cropped version of the letterbox... we'll see!

Meanwhile, it would be great if any LOTR recording owner would upload them somewhere, so I'll grab them to obtain a clean, logo-free version.

A volunteer is needed to write down any single occasion when the main title and any subtitle appear (h:mmConfuseds, or better frame numbers), because they need to be replaced to non-local version - except for LOTR1.

I can give good English and Chinese subtitles and Chinese audio tracks. All for ext. versions.

It will be released, sooner or later.
If someone would help with a donation for the new needed hard disk, surely sooner! Smile

I recently saw the LOTR extended trilogy in a marathon screening (I skipped the third one). They were showing DCPs and what was interesting was that at the far edges of the frame, the cell edges were visible, flicking on and off, around a 5% black bar on the left and sometimes the right (flipped cells i guess). Sometimes mattes shapes and cgi elements would dip into the bar. You could see the dirt suck to the edge of the film gate. It was very distracting but very interesting to watch. This was just on Fellowship, Two towers and im guessing ROTK was fine.

I think this was due to Fellowships part photochemical part Digital intermediate finish, and the 2K master made for the Bluray was not intended for theatrical release.

I took some video (very badly) to compare the color with the Bluray, i think it will be the same but i found it very watchable.

I figured I'd ask here...what is the best way to watch this trilogy these days and not have to deal with the recoloring of later editions? I never saw the third film all the way through and haven't seen the extended versions.

Can't speak to the BDs, but given all the chatter regarding the color timing issues of the extended BDs, I'm still hanging on to my extended DVDs and am totally satisfied. Big Grin
