That seems to be true, but different releases on Hd got different dnr treatment. So, even the same basic master results in different quality.
@
zoidberg: anything new to reveal, regarding the status/mix of the DTS track?

Hi there, I've been pretty busy with my Die Hard project but I plan to sit down and give it a good listen this evening. Pioneer Japan were known for stonking good DTS tracks (the Armageddon DTS was insane) so it's going to be a fun ride

I'm almost certain it's the same mix as the 5.1 AC3 Live DVD

That would be a great thing.

There is a fairly easy way to make sure.
Load both tracks to Audacity and examine the waves.
The DTS would (probably) have higher levels, but the wave forms should be identical.

I'm having a little bit of trouble with the mkv file Mr. Brown was gracious enough to share (pm sent), I can't fully demux the track but what I was able to import into audacity was interesting. The LCR channels were certainly hotter than the dolby but the LFE/Surrounds were lower. This could be due to the differences between ac3/dts or it could suggest a different print master, maybe the mag 6-track? It's impossible to say at this point. It certainly warrants further investigation, unfortunately until the issue with the mkv is resolved I won't be able to listen through my 5.1 system. What I can say for now is that this mix definitely does not include the revisions made for the 5.1EX mix.

If there is a problem demuxing the DTS, I assume that you are using TSmuxer.
If it's an MKV, might I suggest MKVcleaver?

Or, to avoid a damaged audio stream: Just transferring the dts stream without mkv package...
