I have the R1 THX DVD. I think I've got the Japanese DTS (half bitrate) anamorphic DVD somewhere as well.

There is a german DVD SE with tons of extras. I need to buy it.
I just checked the Pal DVD and indeed, both the english and french dub are 5.1 whereas the NTSC DVD has the english in 5.1 but also english & french Dolby Surround.

Nope, don't remember. I never had this disc hence why I'm interested in getting the german disc. Alas there are different editions and with third party vendor, you can't tell if they send you the single disc or 2 disc set.
The only bonus I have is some VHS rip fanmade that is on a certain private tracker.

That's me, I lost my account for some reason so had to create an alternate one. Thus I don't have access to any old correspondance anymore there. Sorry I forgot I asked you some there haha with all these platforms, sometime I can't even replace where I talked to whom, is it on a forum, what'sapp, FB, Twitter, Wechat lol, crazy.

I'm comparing different mixes of True Lies right now, I think the D-Theater is the same mix as the R2 DVD and other HDTV airings, whereas the old NTSC R1 DVD is as stated the original 70mm.
The R1 DVD kills all others included the D-Theater DTS in the mix comparison, even though it's 192kbps for the DS mix, and 384kbps for the 5.1 mix. You can tell the difference in one scene in particular, the end of the island scene where all the copters appears from the military to seek Harry. In the R1 DVD, on both mix, it cuts brutally and ultra-loud with the copters thundering, almost drowning out the music. On the other mixes (R2, HDTV, D-Theater) there is no cut, we segue very smoothly to the copters, and the music drowns the copters rotor sounds. I remember in the cinema, it was the R1 way (I saw it in 70mm several times).

Have you checked out the Web-DL version?

I will see the movie in a theater in Paris on September 30th along with The Abyss and a Dark Angel episode during a James Cameron night. I'm not sure what version and what kind of projections it will be. Probably not 35mm, most likely digital. I've been told that sometimes they announce that they'll show the Blu-ray for lack of a better source, but knowing there are no Blu-rays for neither True Lies nor The Abyss, I wonder if I'm gonna see brand new DCPs.
