The quality is good, I did not quite understand what I need to confirm.

There was just a screenshot before, then now I noted you added others; so, I've compared some to the HD-DVD, and they are pretty the same, quality wise; it would be great to use the WEB source for the new version of this project!

Latest comparison: HD-DVD (written as BD, but it's the same) vs LD vs OM regraded using LD as color reference
https://diff.pics/7vPOA0S6h4ur/1 I think the regraded version retain the "spirit" of the LD, but without clipped whites and the magenta blanket; I'm satisfied of the result!

I finally checked the WEB OM version; sadly, apart very few shots where the frame size is the same of HDTV - apart shifted horizontally, hence a bit more image on one side and less on the other - in all the others it is zoomed and cropped...
So, I'll end up using the previous settings - I managed to solve the latest small problems, and now it *seems* to be perfect. From top: WEB, HD-DVD, LD, Fundamental Collection Hybrid: link to interactive comparison of the last frame of previous image is here: http://ultimateaspectratio.co.nf/compari...vs_FC.html so you can see the difference in size and colors; maybe it needs a stronger grain plate, what do you think? honestly I would be interested in seeing a comparison between your new fanres and old fanres of this, imo that was better than the bd/hd dvd anyway.
I mean if the new one isnt visibly (much) better, why bother?

Fair enough.
http://ultimateaspectratio.ga/Waterworld...s_NEW.html New one has bigger frame now (not only in comparison to BD/HD-DVD, but also to WEB open matte), and removed magenta blanket. It's better IMHO! Thanks given by: OogieBoogie

But it has EE I much prefer the old one it looks more filmic.

hmm, I dont think I would double dip on that, sure there are differences, but both fore and against. The new copy seems to have better skin tones but loses depth of field to the old copy and the new one seems to have more, what looks like cyan running in it.
I'm not saying I think it is worse, but from that shot I wouldnt call that better either, merely different. |
