Thanks DoomBot, was trying to figure out how to post an image correctly.

Again, probably not gospel because, as you say, Stamper, they could have changed it in the telecine stage. However, the transfer, just done for a bonus feature, would probably have not been extensively tweaked scene-to-scene, as a transfer for a feature would be; also, the scan looks shockingly new (read: no EE, no wonky colors) for Universal's standards.

They all look pinkish too me. Yes they are obviously from prints, probably shifted a bit. This documentary must have been assembled on 35mm hence they used clips from prints.

PDB (from this post) wrote: Wrote:Strangely, I think those pics better match my regrade then spoRv's. His is greener (like the DVHS and BD) and mine is redder (and bluer) similar to these pics.

Agree that this "Terror in the Aisles" documentary (IF it could be considered correct, color wise) Alien part doesn't seem like my FC; as PDB said, mine is greener, his is redder and bluer, even if sometimes the contrary is true!
But I wanted to make a little test, mixing FC and PBD; result is interesting!
From left to right: D-Theater (almost equal to BD), Fundamental Collection, PDB regrade, FC/PDB mix 50/50o:

(bigger version, 3840x6090 almost 7MB, you have been warned: https://s20.postimg.cc/s9jf6f00d/alien_c...on_big.jpg)

I'm seriously considering to use this mix for FC V2...

+1. The mix feels the most natural to me between your FC and PDB's version. Although I have to say that the D-Theater colour timing is the most pleasing to my eyes, especially when comparing the still of Ash on the table. However, I never saw Alien in the theater so I have no idea how it's supposed to look  Shy

Speaking of .. I did recently find this "out there", and finally time allowed for me to sample some your compilation. What I've seen so far looks fabulous.

But what I've particularly enjoyed so far is the sound, specifically the unique Dolby Digital AC3 track from the old laserdisc.  While I own the laserdisc and have LD/RF/AC3 playback, it's still standard def laserdisc, so it hasn't gotten much play in recent years. With this version, not only can I enjoy that particular audio mix with a high def transfer, I can now also easily toggle between audio tracks and compare the latest DTS 5.1 re-mix to the older DD AC3 "work in progress Sensurround mix" and it is a fascinating study.

As most know, the old AC3 laserdisc (just on the AC3 tracks) inadvertently used a previously unused work in progress 70mm mix that was put together to demo the Sensurround process with a multi-channel mix. So for this mix, the LFE channel obviously get an extra dose of "oomph" for extended periods of time to highlight the Sensurround aspect of mix. If one has larger & powerful subs, you will feel the difference. While the potential Sensurround release aspect often gets the most notice for this track, what is often overlooked is the very active split surround activity that is also unique to this given mix.  It almost sounds a bit quadraphonic in nature [or would that be hexaphonic for 5.1?] in it's mixing qualities. Music for example, often found just in the front channels in 35mm discrete mix are typically spread throughout the soundfield in the 70mm mix.

The previous DVD mix was from the discrete 35mm printmaster and accordingly was essentially discrete 4.1. Meaning mono surrounds as they would be for the original 35mm mix. The .1 was somewhat weak, and nothing like the AC3 temp track. The latest DTS re-mix on bluray seems to be based that same 35mm  mix, but now with a few minor enhancements / alterations. The LFE channel seems a little more pumped up and on just a few occasions, now has bass somewhat close to the previous laserdisc mix. The DTS 5.1 rear channels seem now seem stereo-ized for split surrounds, but seemingly still based from it's 4.1 origins.

Sadly the 70mm temp mix found on the AC3 track is still just what it's commonly referred to: A temp mix.  Music cues are sometimes different & some audible clipping / distortion occasionally pops in. Small lines of dialog being different etc..  Enough where it is clear the mix lacks the finesse of the approved 35mm mix.

Still.. this provides a fascinating glimpse of  an almost alternate reality where in 1979 the mixing team knew they would not be hampered by the matrix limitations of the Dolby Stereo matrix, knew that split surrounds were possible with 70mm, and had the Cerwin Vega Sensurround bass firepower to shake the house down when a ship landed or make someone jump out of their seats. For that time period, it could have made it's own unique mark in the history of cinema audio.  It is an excellent study in sound and while not the definitive final mix, easily is well worth a listen and including.
