I have this idea of cut & pasting the english dub with the Sarah shrieks taken from the JP dub, just to make for a funny parody sequence.
I wanna see that.

Lucius Etruscus... is that you? Strange thing to meet again here, I remember well our exchange about that Hudson clip (and your article)!
Thanks for the link, fascinating read (I don't know if I love Alien 3 enough to put back the computer voice in the 5.1 track, but it's still great to find something like that and preserve it).
SpoRv and Lucius are separate beings but, as you can see, Lucius is known amidst all Italian Alien fans.
Great conversation about the different mixes in the Alien movies. At Fox they must have had their problems when trying to mix the new American remastered audio tracks with the old Italian dub elements. So many subtle differences, I wonder if other European dubs have similar issues
AKA thxita on OriginalTrilogy
I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

Sorry, I tought it was a Superman/Clark Kent thing... you know, like they're never seen together in the same room?
The different mixes situation is really, really strange. If I remember well, the italian track is the only one with those changes - and it's also got mixing problems here and there, like some SFX that's way too loud (like the explosion of the alien - shot by Vasquez - that sprays Drake with acid blood) or some instances where the music and overall volume is way too low (when Ripley slams the APC into the alien nest). By the way, the Hudson line "Siete sull'ascensore per l'inferno... in discesa!" drops in volume in the middle of the word "ascensore", for no reason at all; and this mistake was already present in the old 2.0 mix!

Weird Ed, because you thought I was Lucius, and I am not (am I? ), the punishment is:
to start a new thread about Italian "wrong" tracks - like Alien and Alien 3, or also like tracks on DVD or BD with wrong speed/pitch, inverted channels etc.
What do you think?

My expertise begins and ends with the Alien saga, but... why not? I'll give it a try (as long as I'm not the only one who contributes, or it'll end up bein' a very short thread).
I won't derail your Fundamental Collection thread further, Lu... I mean, spoRv. Yeah, spoRv.

How do this version of Alien stack up in 2020 against this Alien.1979.Theatrical.Cut.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264-Geek encode?

Just found this one in my old HDD, but it's probably out-of-date by now.
I've seen lots of complains regarding the UHD and its colors... What's the best available version on the net?
Can somebody help me?

My opinion, having seen the 35mm scans that are out there, is that actually the Blu-ray is pretty close colour-wise. The 4K is too cold and the Fundamental looks a bit washed out (but probably accurate to the LD it's based on).
How accurate the 35mm scans are to the original run is another matter - I'd say just pick the look you like most.
