Friday the 13th Part III, which for years I've been trying to make a complete 3D restoration of, including the Paramountain and the opening credits. The left eye is available on old DVD releases, while the right eye appears on the 2009 DVD and Blu-ray. Additionally, Jaws 3D and Metalstorm are available on Blu-ray 3D. Parasite and Spacehunter? No such luck as of writing.

As for Prometheus itself, it was indeed released on Blu-ray 3D, albeit matted to Scope.

Interesting! Even if it's the only title existing, it worths its own thread IMHO.
May I ask you what's the problem in doing such project? It seems quite straightforward to me, in particular presuming that no missing scenes/shots/frames should be on a DVD - and, even so, you could use just one source and "switch" to 2D (or make a fake 3D for short parts).

Additionally, Jaws 3D and Metalstorm are available on Blu-ray 3D.

So, no need to make a project for them, don't you think?

Bear with me... ***in theory*** it's ***almost*** possible to make an open matte 3D version, using the 2D open matte for an eye, and BD for the other eye, and painfully reconstructing the open matte frame using the 2D version, and eventually adjusting it... I'd do this for a 1M$, not a penny less! indeed, I think it's more probably to find somehow an IMAX version.

The problem here is, I gotta make sure each clip syncs decently enough, plus that Paramountain is damn difficult to match up for both eyes.

I'll admit I could use some help in regards to 3D conversion for portions of some of my own projects.

First tests started on HDTV + WEBdl.

HDTV has more details, so it would be used as main source; a bit of WEBdl would be merged to "round the corners" - a tiny bit of sharpest edges would be lost, but overall image would get less jagged edges as well.

Color wise, I prefer HDTV - difference is not excessive, I must admit, but WEBdl is darker and have more natural skin colors, while HDTV is a bit more greener on that side, but hey, it's an Alien movie after all (hush, hush, don't tell this to Ridley!)

So, WEBdl would be used as solely source only for the few missing frames around commercial breaks, and for the whole end credits that are missing on HDTV; parts where pop-ups appear on HDTV would be replaced by WEBdl; at the contrary, WEBdl would be used only for logo removal purposes on few occasions, namely the Russian title and writings, like in the Scottish island at the beginning.

Logo removal is pretty perfect - I can spot really insignificant color differences due to the fact the WEBdl has different colors than HDTV, but I should magnify at least 4x, look very well and it occurs only in few occasions.

If PDB would provide the other HDTV source, probably it would have a closer - if not identical - color grading of the available 1HD; let's wait for it - pleeeease!

There is still a problem of different color grading, and matching the two sources perfectly to avoid the logo to be recognized; sometimes it still happens...

So, a second HDTV source would be beneficial, also for the "pixellated dream" scene, where the WEBdl has lower quality and could not be used as logo replacement, so I would be forced to use it instead...

If PDB would provide the other HDTV source, probably it would have a closer - if not identical - color grading of the available 1HD; let's wait for it - pleeeease!

Wow, the trip is very good quality, I hope in the end will get a good release!

Agree, it's very, very nice!!!

I've worked with the 720p version of Harry Potter and, despite the lower resolution, the quality is outstanding; with a simple upscale (nothing too fancy) it was even better than 1080p... as I often say, "resolution isn't everything! (but it helps...)"

I think that merging the three sources (1HD and FXX HDTV, and WEBdl), the result will be great!

Eagerly waiting for the capture - meanwhile, I'll painfully select what to dump to make space for it...

Some files has been "sacrificed" to make room for this project - indeed, they were only lossless version of previously released projects, so I can recreate them, spending just a bit of time - computer's, not mine!

Now all the needed audio and sub tracks are in the vault; the only missing thing is PDB's FXX 720p capture... when it will be available, I could start to work - pleeease...
