Really like the Alien 3 images, they get rid of the nasty magenta look of the dvd-era transfer and bring it a bit closer the quality of the remasters the first two films go. Seeing as it's unlikely to ever get a remaster this seems well worth doing.

Actually T2 was one of the first times I tried this type of work. I used a ton of 35mm frames Tservo and I collected, some in theater recording, etc:

I even finished the video, although a lot of tweaking was still need. The problem is with T2 there is a lot of fighting as to what the colors should look like. So I put the aside until the remaster came out (hoping the remaster would help the debate and it seems it will not). Meanwhile I put that color grading work into my upscale of T2:

Yeah, followed that thread closely - definetly like the colours but agree it's best to wait and see what the remaster throws out. Have to say I like the colours from the screenshots I've seen of it so far but I'll reserve 'judgement' until it's actually released (unlike a lot of people on various other forums I frequent )

Ok small update. I'm going to push back Alien 3 for a bit so I can get some more information (read: 35mm scans), so Sleepy Hollow will be next after DH2 since I just finished scanning the trailer. Personally, I got to say I love the color

Also to kind of prove counterpoint to myself: a trailer is not always going to have different colors when compared to their respective BDs. Case in point, I love the movie the Edge (1999) and scanned the entire trailer hoping to make it a project. Come to find out that the trailer is pretty close to the BD in colors, maybe just a little more on the red and purple side but essentially the same colors. Not the same difference of DH2 and SH. So since I don't want the 8 hours (and money) it took to scan the trailer go to complete waste, here is sample of the scans for your viewing pleasure:

Overall, contrast upped, highlights pushed, shadows rolled down, skin tones push oranger, reds reduced (like in the caves), green added in the mids, blue added in the highs

I think I've now seen this in every released medium.

When I seen the images of your regrade it really looks how I remember it, I always thought it was weird when at some point the movie was released with so much warmth???

Good job. Temple of Doom surely looks more filmlike like this. Less red in skintones, a bit of a swith towards the green side, more orange reds, more cyan-blue sky. That resembles more the 35mm prints from the 80's.

Thumbs up on Sleepy Hollow. I love that movie. What source will you use? From what I can see on caps-a-holic, no source looks truly scintillating. From the screenshots, the Paramount MPEG-2 and the Paramound VC-1 HD DVD use the identical master. See: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d...59&i=3&l=1

Maybe you could average the two, as each of them has its own ugly artifacts. Although, I just tried to do this and I am not sure one can even tell an improvement.

The other sources look even worse and at least one of the AVC Blu Rays is, weird as it sounds, interlaced and 29,97 fps Oo.

The US Paramount discs seem to both use the same video stream (MPEG-2). I'd suspect the US Warner does too, it being MPEG-2.

The old UK Blu Ray seems to have some 22 Mbps AVC stream (according to blu-ray.com) I can't find anything about. The new one from 2015 might have the same or not (but it's a 2000 piece limited edition). PrivateHD has one GBR disc at around 27 Mbps but the screenshots don't look great either (DNR). No idea if same master, as different screenshots, but I suspect it's a different one.

Maybe if one could find 3 or more separate copies from the same master, one could do a Median. Who knows how well that might work. But even that would probably not save some of the terrible compression artifacts in some scenes. Maybe if you find an HDTV?

All in all, I don't think there is a good source atm, sadly. Might try get the best out of what there is, with grainplate and whatnot, tho. From the available ones, the Paramount MPEG-2 looks the best to me.

I'm using the Japanese BD. Not perfect but much better then the US one and color-wise is closer to the trailer.
