Am I the only one concerned that the trailer looks grain scrubbed to death? Could be YouTube, could be idiots restoring it.

It looks like the folks running the youtube page threw it though a DNR pass in an attempt to mitigate the low bitrate (CGI included, lol). startrek.com lacks whatever DNR pass they put the youtube trailer through, though they are both pretty low bitrate.
The 4K master released for theatrical cut that they are working from (already released by Paramount) looks generally nice, certainly much, much better than anything released before it. (issues with some moderate DNR in effects shots, as well as clumsy, revisionist after effects "fixes" to some stuff but generally a decent master to use for this).

it should be easy to sync the 2.0 mix from the R1 DVD to the 4k release!

I think the sound on this new release with be far better than anything we had before. Mike Matessino was working on it and he's quiet a legend for remastering and remixing soundtrack expansions. Really waiting forward to this release

I don't like they changed more than was originally changed all on their own.
I don't like the colour and contrast and the Atmos was cheap seats pandering.
But I am the worst person for this stuff as I am fully against revionism.

Interesting. TheDigitalBits reviewed this after watching it theatrically and raved about it... but it did sound like they made more changes than they should have.
