Maybe we should start a new thread dedicated specifically to open-matte HDTV/DVD/VHS transfers of different movies (there are many different sources here depending on what you're looking for) ... What do you think Andrea? Maybe we could start a database of open-matte editions and those that have them.

Just to start that idea, I have an open-matte full-screen version of "The Matrix" from a Ukrainian DVB broadcast that has been posted on thatinternalorgan, LOL

@ PDB - Are you still looking for an open-matte copy of Ghost Protocol because I may have finally found one. The server that it's on is down most of the time and it will take a while to download, but... NO promises, but I have been looking around for that and with some of the other open-matte stuff I have found there, it's a good chance that Ghost Protocol will be open-matte as well

Sweet! I won't take it as a promise but that would be great, jerry. But I know how torrents can go.

I was actually still working on this in the background. I notice that the cable channel displays their logo in different times and slightly different places so I was going to try to layer multiple recording to delete the logo. Even doing that I think I couldn't get rid of it all. This would be soooo much easier. Even a crappy copy would help remake the imax version.

PDB, thik that if you have three copies each with always different logo placement, all you need is a median filter to get rid of them - if properly aligned beforehand, of course!

Unfortunately it seems even with multiple copies I have aligned up, there still remains a bit of the logo left over.

Well, lately I'm thinking to delogo an HDTV movie which was not even released on DVD, and the only other copy around is from VHS - bad quality, and color grading completely different; even after tried (a lot) to match colors between the two versions, the VHS, meant to be used for the "patch", is always quite different, hence the patch is more noticeable than the logo itself...

So, I'm leaning towards using a delogo script; results could be perfect, but sometimes quite bad... but always better than having that ugly, big, distracting logo! now, I have only to test which delogo works better, because they are not all created the same... I'll post some example when I got better results!

At the end, if you have only residual parts of the logo, using a delogo could work very well - the smaller logo (or part), the better!

I'd love to see the results when you get done, spoRv. I think there is a lot of interest in a high quality, de-logo-ing program/script. I'm certainly interested. That's could help with a few projects.
